Turret, dome or bullet?
Turret cameras are flexible for many mounting positions. Domes can suit locations where a covered camera body is preferred, but cleanliness and reflections matter. Bullets offer a visible directional form. The environment determines suitability.
Wide angle or useful detail?
A wider lens fits more of a scene into the image, spreading available pixels over a larger area. Faces or small objects at a distance may need a narrower view or a closer camera.
Night-time performance
Check what happens with people moving, not just a still scene. White light can assist colour images but needs to suit the location. Infrared reflections from eaves or nearby walls can reduce clarity.
When PTZ makes sense
A pan-tilt-zoom camera can inspect different areas but does not see every direction at once. Fixed cameras may still be required to record critical areas continuously.
